Point 642：ポイント別徹底トレーニング《the one whoが関代への第一歩》
あるドラマの一幕。容疑者を追い詰め、そこで決め台詞。You’re the one who did it!「犯人はお前だ！」。このwhoが今回の主役とも言うべき文と文を繋ぐ働きをする関係代名詞。
それでは、the one who ～を使った例文を挙げてみましょう。（Point 574参照）
He’s the one who started that strange rumor.
その変な噂を広めたのは彼だよ。
I’m not the one who made this mess.
こんなに散らかしたのは僕じゃない。
Aren’t you the one who brought this subject?
この話題を持ち出したのは君じゃないの？
続けて、the one以外を使ったパターン。
You’ll never find anybody who’s perfect.
欠点のない人などいないよ。
I’ll go get somebody who can speak English.
英語を話せる者を連れてきます。
さらに、whoではなくthatを使った場合。
This is the only thing that worries me.
これがたった一つの悩みの種なんだ。
I can’t stand drinking anything that’s too hot.
私、猫舌なんです。
上の例文のように関係代名詞の後に動詞が来る場合は省略できません。
