まず、４つの英文を読んでください。(Point 313参照)

I like the opening of this song.
この曲の出だしが好き。
He looks so young. I envy that.
彼はとても若々しくて。羨ましいよ。
It happens all the time at work.
職場ではよくあることだね。
Young people these days tend to be that way.
最近の若者にはそういった傾向がある。

次に、the way ～を使って言い換えた英文と比較してみましょう。

⇨ I like the way this song starts out.
　 ・始まり方
⇨ I envy the way he’s able to stay so young.
　 ・若さの保ち方
⇨ That’s the way it is at work.
　 ・職場の状況
⇨ That’s the way young people are these days.
　 ・若者の様子、有様

the wayの後に文を続けると、「方法、状況、様子」などの意味を表します。

少し長めの英文をもう一つ。

Since I haven’t played the piano in a while, I’ve become a little rusty, and my fingers don’t move the way I want.
