「～主義者」は～istで表現します。いくつか表現例を挙げてみましょう。

社会主義者
communist
共産主義者
rationalist
合理主義者
impressionist
印象主義者
environmentalist
環境保護主義者

用例を二つ。

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
あなたは楽観主義者、それとも、悲観主義者？
When it comes to photography, he is a perfectionist.
彼は写真に関しては完璧主義者 (妥協が出来ない人) なのです。

「～イスト」は英語でも～ist。

He was acting like a big-time journalist at the party.
彼はパーティーで大物ジャーナリストのように振る舞っていた。
I hear a world-famous violinist is supposed to come.
世界的に有名なバイオリニストが来ることになっているそうだ。
This columnist always writes about human interest stories.
このコラムニストはいつも三面記事を書いている。
The concert was postponed because the vocalist had a sore throat.
ボーカリストが喉を痛めたため、コンサートは延期になった。
We're leaving the age of the generalist and into the age of the specialist.
ジェネラリストの時代から、スペシャリストの時代に移ってきている。
