「青のリトマス紙が赤になったら、その溶液は酸性である」を英語で言うと・・・。
If the blue litmus paper turns red, the solution is acidic.
「青」はblue、「赤」はred。それぞれ他の用例をいくつか挙げてみましょう。
まず、blueから。
He swore a blue streak.
彼は立て続けに罵りことばを言った。
There's a perfect blue sky today.
今日は抜けるような青空だ。
Hearing that story made me feel blue.
その話を聞いて、憂鬱になった。
All we have at this point is a blueprint for the plan.
その計画はまだ青写真の段階だ。
次は、red。
Our company is in the red.
会社赤字だからな。
He was caught red-handed.
彼は現行犯で逮捕された。
I burn lobster red in an instant.
私すぐ日に焼けて、赤くなっちゃうの。
When everybody's crossing on a red, it's not so scary.
赤信号みんなで渡れば怖くない。
ちなみに、「青信号」はa green lightと言います。

yellowとgrayを動詞として使った用例を二つ。
Teeth tend to yellow with age.
歯は年齢と共に黄色くなる傾向がある。
My hair has been graying lately.
最近、白髪が増えてきた。(用例4参照)
