火曜日は「会話（役割練習）」の日。A・Bの2行会話文を使って、会話の自然なリズム・テンポを身につけましょう。会話文1～3と和訳を読み、音声を聞いてから、解説をチェック！
1. A: This bag is heavy. What's in it?
B: My laptop and some other stuff.
A: このバッグは重いね。中に何が入ってるの？
B: ラップトップと他の物が入ってる。
2. A: How are things going with your girlfriend?
B: What girlfriend? I'm not going with anyone.
A: 彼女とはどうなってるの？
B: 彼女だって？誰とも付き合ってないよ。
3. A: What's on my schedule for today?
B: I've scheduled you for a meeting at 11.
A: 今日の予定はどうなってる？
B: 11時に会議が入っています。
▽解説・練習
【解説】
1. heavy「重い」。「軽い」はlightですね。itはthis bagのこと。（例）What's in your lunch box today?「今日のお弁当は何？」。stuff「物」。staff「スタッフ（職員）」との発音の違いに注意。
《発音アドバイス》
heavyを強調。in itは［イニッt］という感じで。laptopで軽く上げ、stuffで下げます。andは［アン］でいいでしょう。
2. 調子や進み具合を聞く場合に使うのが、How are things going with ～ / How's it going with ～です。（例）How's it going with your report?「報告書はうまく行ってるかい？」。go with ～「～と付き合う」。
《発音アドバイス》
thingsの[θ]とwithの[ð]に注意。What girlfriend?は少し驚いたように言い、ゆっくりイントネーションを下げます。not, going, anyoneにストレスを置きます。
3. on my scheduleと前置詞onを使っている点に注目。（例）I've been on a tight schedule lately.「最近は予定が詰まってるんだよ」。scheduleは動詞としても使えます。（例）The meeting is scheduled to start at three.「会議は3時に始まる予定です」。
《発音アドバイス》
What's, schedule, todayにストレスを置き、ゆっくりイントネーションを下げます。scheduled, meeting, elevenにストレス。atで軽く上げ、11で下げます。
【役割練習】
ロールプレイをしましょう。
◆日本語（カッコ内）のヒントを見て、Aのパートを演じてください。スタート音の後、1～3の音声が連続して流れます。

動詞scheduleを使った例文をいくつか挙げておきます。
I'm scheduled to go there at 9.
→9時にそこに行く予定になっている。
I've scheduled something on that day.
→その日に予定を入れちゃったんだ。
There's a 10-K run scheduled for Saturday.
→土曜日に10キロ走が予定されている。
What have you got scheduled for Tuesday?
→火曜日に予定入ってる？
I don't have anything in particular scheduled.
→特に予定はありません。
