ロールプレイしましょう。

◇関節炎なんですか？◇
A: How do you like this cold weather?
B: I like it, but my joints don't.
A: Do you have arthritis?
B: Just a little. My joints ache when it gets cold.

【和訳】
A: こういう寒い天気はどうですか？
B: 好きなんだが、関節にはよくないよね。
A: 関節炎なんですか？
B: 少しだけ。寒くなるとうずくんだ。

【解説】
How do you like ～「～はどうですか（好きですか）？」。「関節」はjointsと言います。この場合のdon'tはdon't like this cold weatherの意味。arthritis「関節炎」。名詞acheは「痛み」、動詞の場合は「痛む」。

《例文》
1. How do you like the beginning of this song?
→この曲の出だしはどう？
2. Catching a cold gives you achy joints, doesn't it?
→風邪を引くと関節が痛くなるよね。
3. You seem to be showing the early signs of arthritis.
→関節炎の初期症状が出ているみたいですね。
4. This is just a little token of my appreciation.
→ほんの感謝の印です。
5. I have a lot of little aches and pains.
→身体のあちこちが少し痛む。

【音読アドバイス】
A: How, like, coldにストレスを置いて話しかけます。
B: 役になりきって！like itは「ライキッ」、butは「バッ」と発音。don'tは「ドウンt」です。
A: arthritisの[θ]の発音に注意。
B: just a littleは「ジャスタリル」という感じで。acheとcoldを特に強調して言います。
