通じる英語の話し方（音読78回）

音読しましょう。

◇途中で席を立つ◇
This movie is really boring.
I don't want to sit here any more.
I think I'll get up and head for the door.

【和訳】
この映画は本当に退屈だ。
これ以上、ここに座ってられないよ。
席を立って出ることにする。

【解説】
boringは「退屈な」、boredは「退屈した」の意味。I don't want to ～ any more「これ以上～したくない」。get up and head for the doorとはwalk out「（席を立って）出ていく」の意味。動詞headは「向かって進む」という意味を表します。

《例文》
1. A: I'm bored. B: I know. These lectures are always boring.
→A: 飽きちゃったよ。B: ああ。こういう講義っていつも退屈だから。
2. I don't want to drink with that guy.
→あいつとは飲みたくないんだよ。
3. I can't take on any more work this week.
→今週はこれ以上仕事はできないよ。
4. Get up, dust yourself off, and try again.
→ほら立ち上がって、埃を払って、もう一度やってみよう。
5. We're heading south, aren't we?
→南へ向かってるんだよね。

【音読アドバイス】
《ポイント：母音[ɔːr]》before, floor, morning, store
(1) 退屈したように話し始めます。[ɔːr]に注意して、boringを特に強調して言いましょう。
(2) I, want, sit, more（[ɔːr]に注意）にストレスを置いて話します。
(3) get up「ゲラップ」とhead, door（[ɔːr]に注意）を強めます。
