I was running to catch the elevator yesterday.
I bumped my leg on a wastebasket.
It fell over and all the trash spilled out.

【和訳】
昨日、エレベーターに乗ろうと走ってたら。
ごみ箱に足をぶつけちゃって。
ごみ箱が倒れてごみが全部出ちゃったんだ。

【解説】
run to catch ～「～に乗ろうとして走る」、wastebasket「ごみ箱、くずかご」。「ぶつける」はbump、「倒れる」はfall overで表現します。spill out「こぼれる、あふれる」の代わりにcome outも使えます。

《例文》
1. I ran to catch the train and got caught in the doors.
→電車に乗ろうと走ったら、ドアに挟まれた。
2. I bumped my elbow on the desk and got a nasty bruise.
→机に肘をぶつけたら、ひどいあざになった。
3. I bumped into him by accident yesterday.
→昨日偶然彼に出くわした。
4. I nearly fell over on the way down the stairs.
→階段を下りる途中で転びそうになった。
5. He spilled coffee all over the floor.
→彼はコーヒーを床一面にこぼしてしまった。

【音読アドバイス】
《ポイント：母音 [e]》elevator - yesterday - leg - fell
(1) running, catch, elevatorにストレスを置き、yesterdayでゆっくりとイントネーションを下げます。elevatorの[e]は少し口を開き気味に発音するといいでしょう。
(2) bumped, leg, wastebasketを強調して言葉を続けます。
(3) andは軽く「アン」。allとtrashを特に強調しましょう。
