【場面7】 At a Department Store デパートで
A: Hi. I'm looking for a handbag.
B: Is there any particular designer (brand) you prefer?
A: Not really, as long as it goes well with a formal dress.
B: All of our handbags are in this display area. Do you see any that you like?
A: This white one here is very attractive. Do you have it in any other colors?
B: I believe we do. I'll go see what we have in stock.
A: あの、ハンドバッグを探しているんですが。
B: 何か特にお好きなブランドはございますか？
A: 特にありません。フォーマルなドレスに合えばいいんです。
・as long as ～「～する限りは」。
B: すべてのハンドバッグはここに展示されておりますので、お気に召したバッグはございますか？
A: ここにある白のバッグがとても魅力的だわ。別の色はあるのかしら？
B: あると思いますが。在庫を確認して参ります。
・go (and) seeのandが略されています。
1. Hello, can I help you look for something?
→こんにちは、何かお探しですか？
2. Is there anything in particular that you had in mind?
→何か特にお買い求めになりたい物がございますか？
3. You're just looking? That's fine. Please take your time.
→ご覧になっているだけですか？わかりました。ごゆっくりどうぞ。
・I’ll be here if you need anything.「何か必要なものがございましたら、こちらにおりますので」。この言い回しも覚えておきましょう。
4. Would you like to try that on?
→それを試着なさいますか？
5. Our dressing rooms are right over there if you'd like to try that on.
→試着室はあちらになっておりますので、よろしければ試着してみてください。
6. It looks like you might want to try one size larger.
→一つ大きめのサイズを試着されたほうがいいようですね。
・「一つ小さめのサイズ」はone size smallerです。
7. How does that fit? A little tight?
→ぴったり合いますでしょうか？少しきついでしょうか？
・「少しゆるい」はa little looseと言います。
8. It looks quite good on you.
→とてもお似合いですよ。
9. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
→今日は他にご入り用のものはございませんか？
10. These are on sale.
→ここにございますのは特売品になっております。

・すでに店員の誰かが声をかけたかどうか確認する時の言い回しです。

→中にお入りになって、ご覧ください。
14. Please feel free to browse (around) inside.
→ご自由に中をご覧ください。
15. You're welcome to browse / look around.
→ご自由にご覧ください。
16. Feel free to have a look around if you like.
→よろしければ、ご自由にご覧ください。
次は、サイズや色などについて。動詞comeを使って表現します。
17. This shoe comes in a size ○.
→この靴はサイズ○がございます。
・○には数字が入ります。haveを使った言い回しも覚えておきましょう。We have this in a smaller / larger size.「小さな / 大きなサイズがございます」。
18. This comes in different colors.
→違う色がございます。
19. The jacket comes in a corduroy or a tweed.
→このジャケットは、コーデュロイとツイードがございます。
20. These socks only come in one size, but lots of colors.
→ここにある靴下は、一つのサイズしかございませんが、さまざまな色がございます。
さらに、支払いの際のやりとりを見てみましょう。
A: The total is ¥8,530. Will that be cash or credit?
B: I'll use my ○○ card, if you take them.
A: Yes, we do. Would you like it gift-wrapped?
B: Yes, please.
A: 合計で8,530円になります。お支払いは現金でしょうか、クレジットカードでしょうか？
