《今日のFUP：1226》 大山鳴動 ─ たいざんめいどう
「マスコミが大騒ぎした割には、大山鳴動して鼠一匹だったね」─ The media got overexcited about it, but they just made a big deal out of nothing.
get overexcited about ～「～について大興奮する」。その結果は・・・They just made a big deal out of nothing.「つまらないことを騒ぎ立てただけだった (大山鳴動して鼠一匹)」。They just got all panicky about it.と言い換えてもいいでしょう。このような空騒ぎは、It happens all the time.「よくあること」ですよね。
（例）「国会はその法案を通すか通さないかで紛糾している」─ The Diet is in an uproar over whether or not to pass the bill.
・the Diet「国会」、be in an uproar over ～「～で大騒ぎする」。
前回の復習
「こんなことがわからないなんて、これから先、前途多難だな」─ You’re going to be in for a lot of trouble up ahead if you don't understand this.
「この先、多くの困難に直面する」─ be in for a lot of trouble up ahead
「～に直面する」─ be in for ～ / face
「ここから先、苦労する (多くの困難を抱える) ことになるだろう」─ You’ll have a lot of trouble further down the road.
「これから先が大変だな」─Things are going to be tough from here on out.
Extra Bit：「これから先、気の遠くなるような業務が我々を待ち受けている」─ We've got a staggeringly huge job waiting for us.
