「政治家の公約など、もう誰も真剣には受け取らない」─ Campaign promises by politicians are not taken seriously any more.
campaign promiseが「公約」に当たる表現。public promiseやcampaign pledgeという場合もあります。次の言い回しも一緒に覚えておきましょう。He is the last person to break his promise.「彼は約束を破るような人ではない」。
（例）「政治家があなたのためにやると言っていることを決して信じてはいけない」─ Never believe a politician when he tells you what he'll do for you.

「選挙権があるんだから、せめて投票ぐらいしろよ」─ You have the right to vote, so exercising it is the least you can do.
「選挙権がある」─ have the right to vote
「選挙権」─ suffrage
「選挙権を行使すること」─ exercising it (the right to vote)
