《今日のFUP：082》理論と実践
「理論と実践は違う」─ Theory and practice are two different things.
「理論」はtheory、「実践」はpracticeですね。Theory is not the same thing as practice.でも同じような意味になります。少し長くなりますが、次の言い回しも覚えておきましょう。You never know how things will turn out. That's why we have different words for theory and practice.「物事はどうなるかわからない。だから理論と実践という別々のことばがある」。
（例）「物事は理論通りには運ばない」─ Things don't always go according to theory.
前回の復習
「その件については徹底的に調査しています」─ We're doing a thorough investigation of the matter.
「徹底的に調査する」─ do a thorough investigation
「会社でセクハラがないか徹底的に調査しています」─ We're doing a thorough investigation to expose any sexual harassment in the company.
「彼らが我が社の帳簿を徹底的に調べることになる」─ They'll be checking our books thoroughly.
Extra Bit：「その問題についてもっと徹底的に話し合うべきだった」─ We should've discussed the issue more thoroughly.
