《今日のFUP：054》土砂降り
「外は土砂降りだ」─ It's coming down in sheets out there.
「土砂降り」はcome down in sheetsで表現。It's pouring rain outside.とも言えます。pourは動詞としても使えます。Look. It's pouring.「見て、土砂降りだよ」。
（例）「こんな土砂降りの中、急いでどこに行くんだい？」─ Where are you going in such a hurry in this downpour?

「今回の選挙で彼は当落線上にいる」─ In the current election, he's on the borderline between winning and losing.
「当落線上にいる」be on the borderline / fine line between winning and losing
「当選する」─ be /get elected
「落選する」─ lose the election
「我が候補は当選確実だ」─ Our candidate is sure to be elected.
Extra Bit：「どうせなら自分が投票した人に当選して欲しいよね」─ Of course I want the candidate I vote for to get elected.
