《今日のイディオム》trip over
「何かにつまずいて、転びそうになった」─ I tripped over something and almost fell down.
「~につまずく」はtrip overで表現します。overの代わりにonを使う場合もあります。I almost tripped on something on the way down the stairs.「階段を下りる途中で何かにつまずきそうになった」。次の言い回しもこの機会に覚えておきましょう。Something on the ground tripped me up.「道路の上にあった何かにつまずいた」。
