火曜日は「会話（役割練習）」の日。A・Bの2行会話文を使って、会話の自然なリズム・テンポを身につけましょう。会話文1～3と和訳を読み、音声を聞いてから、解説をチェック！
1. A: Congratulations on your exam results!
B: Thanks. Didn't you think I'd pass?
A: 試験の結果、おめでとう！
B: ありがとう。合格すると思ってなかったんじゃない？
2. A: What are you going to order?
B: I like the looks of the roast beef.
A: 何を注文する？
B: ローストビーフが美味しそうだね。
3. A: Is this a picture of you as a boy?
B: No. Actually that's my father.
A: これ子供の頃の写真かい？
B: 違うよ。実はそれ僕の父親なんだ。
▽解説・練習
【解説】
1. Congratulationsのsと前置詞onに注目。（例）Congratulations on getting married.「結婚おめでとう」。I'dはI wouldの短縮形です。
《発音アドバイス》
Congratulationsのアクセントの位置に注意（赤字）。Thanksとthinkの[θ]が［ス］にならないように。passの[æ]を意識してイントネーションを上げます。
2. order「注文する」。I like the looks of ～「～の見た目が好き」で「美味しそう」を表現。 もちろん、The roast beef looks delicious.とも言えます。
《発音アドバイス》
What, going, order, like, looks, roast, beefにストレスを置いて言いましょう（強弱リズム）。roastは［ロースト］ではなく［ロゥスt］です。
3. as a boy「少年の時の」を「子供の頃の」と訳しています。Actually「実は、実際は」。（例）Actually I was born in New York.「実はニューヨーク生まれなんだ」。
《発音アドバイス》
this, picture, you, boyにストレス（強弱リズム）。No.は［ノゥ］。Actually, that'sの[æ]に注意。
【役割練習】
ロールプレイをしましょう。
◆日本語（カッコ内）のヒントを見て、Aのパートを演じてください。スタート音の後、1～3の音声が連続して流れます。
