《今日のイディオム》be prepared for
「いつでも不測の事態に備えておかないと」─ Always be prepared for the unexpected.
be prepared for ～で「～に備える、準備する」という意味。「いつでも最悪の事態に備えておかないと」は、the unexpected「不測の事態、予期せぬ出来事」の代わりにthe worstを使って、Always be prepared for the worst.と言います。例文をもう一つ。We weren't fully prepared for the presentation.「プレゼンの準備が十分ではなかった」。
