穴埋め英作文1・2・3（作文160回）　何を着ても・残り1キロ・同世代の人～

水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. You look good in (　　　) you wear.
→君は何を着てもよく似合う。

2. The trains into Tokyo stop (　　　) fairly early.
→上りの終電ってかなり早くなくなっちゃうよ。

3. We don't (　　　) telephone inquiries.
→電話でのお問い合わせは受け付けておりません。

【解説】
1. whatever「何でも」の使い方がポイント。（例）He'll do whatever she wants.「彼は彼女の望むことなら何でもする」。
2. stop running「走るのをやめる」で「なくなる」を表現。（例）I had no idea the last bus ran so early.「こんなにバスの最終が早いと思わなかった」。
3. accept「受け入れる、認める」。（例）You should not accept their offer.「彼らの申し出を受けない方がいい」。

aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→同世代の人が住宅ローンに苦しめられていると聞くと本当に身につまされる。

【解説】
hit close to homeが「身につまされる」に当たる言い回し。withはwho haveの意味で使われています。home loan trouble「住宅ローンの問題」。次のように言っても同じような意味になります。I can really sympathize when I hear about people of my own generation who are having a hard time with home loans.
