《今日のイディオム》get rained on
「雨に降られて、最悪だったよ」─ We got rained on. It was the pits.
「雨に降られる」はget rained onで表現できます。例えば、「運動会の途中で雨に降られた」は、We got rained on halfway through the track meet.と言います。長くなりますが例文をもう一つ。One thing after another today. I get rained on, I'm running late for my date, and now I can't find my wallet.「雨に降られて、デートに遅刻、そして、今は財布が見つからない。今日は踏んだり蹴ったりだよ」。the pitsは「最悪、最低」という意味。the worstも使えます。
