「目覚まし時計が鳴らなかったんだ」─ The alarm clock didn't go off.
「鳴る」はgo offで表現できます。例えば、「あっ!金属探知器が鳴った」はOops! The metal detector went off.と言います。さらに例文を二つ。The alarm went off suddenly.「突然、警報器が鳴り響いた」、I heard the fire crackers go off.「爆竹が破裂する音が聞こえた」。
