look on the dark side of thingsが「物事の暗い面を見る」という意味。of thingsは省略できます。darkをbrightに代えれば、「物事の明るい面を見る」という意味になります。例文を一つ。Maybe it's not as bad as you think. Just look on the bright side.「お前が思うほど悪くないかもしれない。いい方に考えればいいんだよ」。次の言い回しも覚えておきましょう。You'll have to keep an upbeat attitude.「楽天的な姿勢を持ち続けないと」。
