go through ～「～を経験する」。go through a rough patchで「大変な思いをする、ひどい目に遭う」という意味。go throughを使った例文を二つ。I've seen this town go through a lot of changes.「この街がいろいろと変わって行くのを見てきました」、We went through a lot, but the end result was good.「いろいろあったけど、結果がよかったからね」。
