火曜日は「会話(役割練習)」の日。A・Bの2行会話文を使って、会話の自然なリズム・テンポを身につけましょう。会話文1~3と和訳を読み、音声を聞いてから、解説をチェック!
1. A: Here's your change, and here's your receipt.
B: Thanks. ... Uhh, I think you gave me too much change.
A: お釣りに、レシートです。
B: どうも。... あの、お釣りが多いですよ。
2. A: Can I make a suggestion?
B: Sure. What do you have in mind?
A: 提案してもいい?
B: ああ。何かな?
3. A: How did you do on your exam?
B: I don't know. They'll tell us our scores next week.
A: 試験はどうだった?
B: どうかな。来週、点数がわかるけど。
▽解説・練習
【解説】
1.「~をどうぞ」と渡す時に使うのはHere's ~です。(例)Here's your ticket.「切符です」。 give ~ too much change「~にお釣りを多く渡す」。changeの代わりにbackを使って、I think you gave me too much back.とも言えます。
《発音アドバイス》
Here's yourは[ヒァージュア]という感じでいいでしょう。Thanksとthinkの[θ]に注意。think, gave, too, changeにストレスを置きます(強弱リズム)。
2. make a suggestion「提案する」。(例)make a comment「コメントする」、make a toast「乾杯する」。have ~ in mindで「~を考えている」。(例)What price range did you have in mind?「ご予算は?」。
《発音アドバイス》
Can Iは[キャナイ]、suggestionは[サジェスチョン]。What, have, mindにストレスを置きましょう。
3. How did you do ~で「~はどうだった?」の意味に。(例)How did you know?「どうしてわかったの?」、How did you find his speech?「彼のスピーチはどうだった?」。この場合のTheyは「学校側、試験を実施した側の人たち」を指します。
《発音アドバイス》
How did you doは[ハゥディジュドゥー]という感じで。don't knowの[オウ]に注意。scoresとnextを特に強調しましょう。
【役割練習】
ロールプレイをしましょう。
◆日本語(カッコ内)のヒントを見て、Aのパートを演じてください。スタート音の後、1~3の音声が連続して流れます。
1. A: Here's your(お釣り・レシート)
B: Thanks. ... Uhh, I think you gave me too much change.

B: Sure. What do you have in mind?
