第150回

水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. Your socks are (　　　) out.
→靴下が裏返しだよ。

2. I caught the (　　　) from my kids.
→子供たちから鼻風邪がうつった。

3. I wonder how much I have (　　　) in my wallet.
→お財布の中にあといくらあったかな。

【解説】
1.「裏返し」はinside outと言います。（例）Your sweater is on inside out.「セーターを裏表に着てるよ」。
2. sniffles「鼻風邪」。（例）I hate a nose cold more than anything else.「鼻風邪が一番やっかいだよね」。
3.「ある（残っている）」をleftで表現。（例）Is there any milk left?「牛乳は残ってる？」。

【Part 2】
aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

4. a. Those are just the words I wanted to hear.

→その言葉を待っていたんだ。

5. a. No more trouble out of you, all right?

【Part 3】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→英語の勉強は楽しみながらやらないと続かない。それが長続きする秘訣。

【解答】have, keep, secret, persistent

【解説】
have a good time ～ing「楽しみながら～する」。keep it up for longで「長く続ける」という意味。「～する秘訣」はthe secret to ～で表現しています。persistent「ねばり強い、持続する（形容詞）」。（例）Persistent effort yields results.「努力を続ければ結果が出る」。You have to enjoy practicing English or you won't keep up with it. That's the secret to sticking to it over the long run.でも同じような意味になります。

【リピーティング】
英文1～3をリピートしましょう。

1. Your socks are inside out.
2. I caught the sniffles from my kids.
3. I wonder how much I have left in my wallet.



英文4～5（a, b）をリピートしましょう。

4. a. Those are just the words I wanted to hear.
b. I was hoping you'd say that.
→その言葉を待っていたんだ。

5. a. No more trouble out of you, all right?
b. I don't want any more trouble out of you.
→これ以上トラブルはごめんだ。
