穴埋め英作文1・2・3（作文147回）　そのままで・本を取り寄せて・お金よりも～

第147回

水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. I don't (　　　) a bag, thanks.
→（店員が袋に入れようとして）そのままでいいですよ。

2. That looks like the (　　　) of a virus.
→それはウィルスの仕業のようだね。

3. I've met lots of people (　　　) this hobby.

1. I don't need a bag.の文字通りの意味は「袋は必要ありません」。I'll just take it without the bag, thanks.やNo bag, thanks.とも言えます。
2. work「仕事、作業」で「仕業」を表現。（例）This mess has got to be his doing.「こんなに散らかしたのは彼の仕業だな」。
3. through「通して、通じて」。thanks to ～「～のおかげで」を使って次のようにも言えます。I've made lots of new friends thanks to this hobby.

aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

4. a. I'd like to order this book.
b. I'd like to (　　　) in an order for this book.
→この本を取り寄せていただきたいのですが。

5. a. I never stole that money. I was wrongly accused.
b. I didn't steal that money. It's a false (　　　).
→そのお金を盗んだのは僕じゃない。濡れ衣だ。

5. be wrongly accused「間違って責められる（訴えられる）」、a false accusation「間違った非難、告発」で「濡れ衣」を表現。（例）Don't make outlandish accusations unless you can back them up.「裏付けられないなら、突拍子もない言いがかりをつけるのはよしてくれ」。

日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→お金よりもやりたいことを優先する人が増えている。

【解説】
More and more people ～「ますます多くの人たちが～」。（例）My thoughts turn toward him more and more every day.「日に日に彼への想いが募って行く」。place more importance on ～ than on ...で「...よりも～を重視する」という意味に。doingとmaking（動名詞）になっている点にも注意。
