穴埋め英作文1・2・3（作文145回）　気が利くね・今期で幕を閉じた・公序良俗に反する～

水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. That's very (　　　) of you.

→このパン、ボール紙みたいに味がない。

【解説】
1. thoughtful「思いやりのある」で「気が利く」を表現。considerateも使えます。（例）How considerate of you!「思いやりがありますね！」。
2. Whichの代わりにWhoseも使えます。前置詞onに注目。（例）I'll always be on your side.「僕はいつも君の味方だよ」。
3. tasteless「味のない」には「趣味の悪い」という意味もあります。（例）Putting a chandelier in a Japanese-style room is tasteless.「和室室にシャンデリアをつけるなんて趣味が悪いよね」。cardboard「ボール紙」。（例）a cardboard box「段ボール箱」。

【Part 2】
aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

4. a. His life in baseball ended this season.
b. This was the (　　　) season in his baseball career.
→彼の野球人生は今期で幕を閉じた。

5. a. Another drinking party tonight? I think I'll pass.
b. There's another drinking session tonight? I'll (　　　) this one out.
→今夜また飲み会なの。今回はパスだな。

4. end「終わる」とthe last season「最後のシーズン」で「幕を閉じだ」を表現。（例）It was a close game but ended in a draw.「接戦だったが、引き分けに終わった」。
5. pass「パスする」の代わりにsit ～ out「～に参加しない」を使っています。次の言い回しも覚えておきましょう。I'll pass on the drinking session tonight.「今夜の飲み会はパスするよ」。

日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→公序良俗に反するホームページは事前通告なく削除されます。

【解答】offend, morals, deleted, notice

【解説】
offend「背く」の代わりにthreaten「脅かす」も使えます。public order and moralsが「公序良俗」に当たる表現。（例）Internet pornography is a threat to public morality.「インターネット上のポルノは公衆道徳に対する脅威である」。be deleted「削除される」。without advance noticeで「事前に知らせずに」という意味になります。

動詞endを使った英文をいくつか挙げておきましょう。

The loan period ended yesterday.
→貸し出し期限は昨日で切れています。
I ended up pulling an all-nighter.
→結局徹夜することになった。
The negotiations ended fairly well.
→交渉はかなりうまく行った。
That's how our research project ended.
→そうやって我々のプロジェクトは終了したのです。
The Foreign Ministry reform ended in collapse.
→外務省の改革は腰砕けに終わった。
