金曜日は「英語表現」の日。日常生活の中で頻繁に使われるさまざまな表現を覚えましょう。毎回、トピックに関連した使える英文を紹介します。今回も「英語」です。

【解説】
6. improve「上達する、進歩する」。次の言い回しも覚えておきましょう。Why am I still unable to speak English?「どうしてまだ英語が話せないんだろう？」。
7.「字幕」はsubtitlesと言います。（例）I prefer subtitles to dubbing.「吹き替えより字幕の方がいい」。
8. simple「簡単な、単純な」。（例）You should at least learn to do simple algebra.「少なくとも簡単な代数くらいは勉強しておいた方がいい」。
9. harder to understand「理解するのがさらに難しい」。over the phone「電話で」。
10. essential「欠かせない、必須の」。（例）Whatever you're doing, starting off on the right foot is essential.「何事も最初が肝心だ」。
