木曜日は「英文法」の日。Practice before theory.「理屈より実践」。さまざな例文を参考にして、使える英文法を身につけましょう。今回も基本動詞Comeを取り上げます。

◆Comeを使いこなす！ (2)◆
日常会話の中でよく用いられる例文をさらに五つ挙げてみます。

【リピーティング】
英文11～15をリピートしましょう。

11. Come closer. I have something to tell you.
→もっとそばに寄って。言いたいことがある。
12. The museum has come into view in front of us.
→正面に博物館が見えてきた。
13. How did you come up with this idea?
→どうやってこのアイディアを思いついたの？
14. I've come to worry less about life's ups and downs.
→人生の浮き沈みについてあまり気にしなくなった。
15. I wish somebody could come help me.
→誰か助けに来てくれたらな。



▽解説・穴埋め

【解説】
11. come closer「もっと近づく、そばに寄る」。（例）Would you mind moving closer together, please?「もう少し詰めていただけますか？」。
12. come into view「視界に入る」。Now you can see the museum up ahead.でも同じような意味になります。
13. come up with ～で「～を思いつく、～を考え出す」という意味に。（例）As I get older, I just don't come up with good ideas any more.「年と共になかなかいいアイデアが思いつかなくなる」。
14.「～するようになる」はbecomeではなくcomeを使います。（例）Why is it that you've come to hate him?「君が彼を大嫌いになったのはなぜ？」。
15. 会話ではcome helpのようにcomeの後のandを省略する場合がよくあります。（例） I'd like to come see you today.「今日会いに行きます」。

日本語の意味なるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

【解説】
16. come close to ～ingで「～しそうになる」という意味に。（例）I almost missed the flight.「もう少しで飛行機に乗り遅れるところだった」。
17. come intoの後にbloom「花盛り」を続けて「いっぱい咲いている」を表現。（例）The cherry blossoms are in full bloom.「桜が満開だ」。
18. この場合のcome down to ～は「（結局）～になる」という意味。（例）It all comes down to your personal outlook.「すべては心のもち方次第」。
19. come to realize ～「～がわかるようになる」。（例）I've come to be able to eat sushi.「お寿司が食べられるようになった」。
20. come (and) getのandが省略されています。come get meの代わりにcome pick me upも使えます。

→先頭集団が見えてきたよ。
Lots of people come down with colds when the seasons are changing.
→季節の変わり目に風邪を引く人が多い。
Does the full-course meal come with coffee?
→フルコースの食事にコーヒーは付きますか？
Hot water doesn't come out of the shower head.
→シャワーからお湯が出ない。
I've come to realize what's important in life.
→人生で何が大切なのがわかったよ。
Don't be so antisocial. Come sit with us.
→付き合い悪いじゃないか。こっちへ来て座れよ。
I'm not sure what time we'll be able to come see you.
→何時に会えるかはっきりしてないんですよ。
