第135回

木曜日は「英文法」の日。Practice before theory.「理屈より実践」。さまざな例文を参考にして、使える英文法を身につけましょう。今回は基本動詞Comeを取り上げます。

◆Comeを使いこなす！ (1)◆
日常会話の中でよく用いられる例文を五つ挙げてみます。

【リピーティング】
英文1～5をリピートしましょう。

1. Come in. The tea is ready.
→中に入って。お茶が入ってるから。
2. Here comes the train, right on schedule.
→電車が来た、時間通りに。
3. Where do you come from?
→どこの出身ですか？
4. Come this way, please.
→こちらへどうぞ。
5. The project has finally come to an end.
→ようやくそのプロジェクトが終わった。



▽解説・穴埋め

【解説】
1.「入ってくる」はcome in、「出てくる」はcome outです。（例）I can't wait for his new novel to come out.「彼の新しい小説が出るのが待ち遠しい」。「（お茶が）入る」をready「準備ができた」で表現。
2. Here comes the train.語順に注意。（例）Here he comes.「彼が来た」。right on schedule「定刻に」。
3. comeを使わずに、Where are you from?とも言えます。
4.「こちらへどうぞ」はCome this way, please.、「あちらへどうぞ」はGo that way, please.ですね。
5. come to an end「終わる、終了する」。（例）I feel like the world is going to come to an end.「世も末だな」。

日本語の意味なるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

6. come onは文脈によってさまざまな意味を表します。（例）Come on. Ichiro! Get a hit!「頼むよ。イチロー！ヒットを打ってくれ！」。
7. Azalea season comes after the cherry blossoms.とも言えます。
8. 次の三つの言い回しを覚えておきましょう。I'm not sure what country she comes from / where she comes from / where she's from.
9. come one's wayで「（その人の方向に）来る」という意味。（例）No luck will come your way unless you take action.「行動を起こさなければ幸運は訪れない」。
10. come to nothing「無駄に終わる」。（例）I did all that hard work and it came to nothing. What a waste!「一生懸命頑張ったのにだめだった。ああ、むなしい！」。

→その時になったら、やればいい（取り越し苦労はするな）。

→彼女はブランド品の買い物中毒なのよね。
