水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. Being a student is an (　　　) life.
→学生は気楽だよね。

2. This is no time to (　　　).
→尻込みしている場合じゃない。

3. The spaghetti sauce is a bit on the spicy (　　　).
→このスパゲッティソースは少し辛いね。

【解説】
1. being a student「学生でいること」とan easy life「気楽な生活」を組み合わせて「学生は気楽」を表現。（例）He is easy to be with.「彼と一緒にいるのは楽でいいよね」。
2. flinch「尻込みする、ひるむ」。This is no time to ～で「～する場合ではない」の意味に。（例）This is no time to make an excuse. Just do it!「言い訳をしている場合ではない。やるしかない！」
3. be on the ～ sideの文字通りの意味は「～の側にある」。「少し辛い」をa bit on the spicy sideで表現。（例）It's a little on the sour side.「ちょっと酸っぱいね」。

aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

5. How oftenは「どれくらい頻繁に」、At what intervalsは「どれくらいの間隔で」という意味。（例）This bus runs all night at 30-minute intervals.「このバスは一晩中30分間隔で運行しています」。

日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→彼は人に合わせるのがうまいから、みんなに好かれるんだよ。

【解説】
「うまい」をbe good at ～「～するのが得意」、「人に合わせる」をget along with other people「他の人たちと仲良くする」、「みんなに好かれる」をpopular「人気がある」で表現しています。He's well liked, since he knows how to get along with people.でも同じような意味になります。

→にやにや笑っている場合ではない。
This is no time to be talking like that.
→今はそんな事を言っている場合ではない。
