水曜日は「英作文」の日。日々の生活の中でよく使う言い回しを英語で表現してみましょう。練習は三つのパート（穴埋め問題）に分かれています。それでは始めましょう。

【Part 1】
日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

1. This job is a big (　　　).
→この仕事は大きな悩みの種だ。

2. None of your own (　　　).
→大きなお世話だ。

3. He (　　　) big for a newcomer.
→あいつ新人のくせに態度がでかい。

1. a big headache「大きな頭痛」で「大きな悩みの種」を表現しています。（例）It gives me a headache just thinking about what we've got in store.「これから先のことを考えると、頭が痛いよ」。
2. None of your own business.は「大きなお世話だ、人のことにかまうな」に当たる言い回し。Mind your own business.とも言います。
3.「態度がでかい」はact bigで表現できます。（例）He has an attitude problem.「彼は態度がでかい（態度に問題がある）」。

aとbが同じ意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。

日本語の意味になるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→楽して結果を出そうという考えがそもそも間違っている。

【解説】
The idea that ～ is mistaken from the start.これで「～という考えは初めから間違っている」という意味になります。（例）The idea that something terrible could happen made me very nervous.「何か大変なことが起きるのではないかと胸騒ぎがした」。produce results「結果を生む」、with ease「容易に」。

「お酒」に関連した例文をいくつか挙げておきましょう。

→お酒は人間関係を滑らかにする潤滑油です。

→お酒、ダメなんですよ。
You can hold your liquor, can't you?
→結構いける口なんでしょう？
Everybody has their own way of drinking.
→人それぞれにお酒の飲み方がある。
I prefer cakes or candies to alcohol, but I do drink.
→甘党だけど、お酒も飲みます。
