金曜日は「英語表現」の日。日常生活の中で頻繁に使われるさまざまな表現を覚えましょう。毎回、トピックに関連した使える英文を紹介します。今回は「メール」です。

【穴埋め】
日本語の意味なるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

→このメール誰から？

→このアドレスにメールしてください。

→それって迷惑メールだよね。

→メールが文字化けしている。

→未読のメールが山ほどある。

【解説】
1. 文末にfromが来ている点に注目。Who sent me this e-mail?とも言えます。
2. e-mailは動詞としても使えます。at this addressのatに注意。Please send me an e-mail at this address.
3. junkとは「くずの、不要の」という意味。「いたずらメール」はcrank e-mailと言います。
4. be garbled「ゆがめられた、ごっちゃになった」を使って「文字化け」を表現。名詞garbleを使って、This e-mail is full of garble.とも言えます。
5. unread「読まれていない」。tons of ～「たくさんの、山ほどの」。（例）I've got tons of work I have to do.「やらなくちゃいけない仕事が山ほどある」。

「メール」に関連した言い回しをいくつか挙げておきましょう。

I'll send you an e-mail as soon as my schedule takes shape.
→予定がはっきりしたらメールします。
It took me a lot of time to write this e-mail in English.
→英語でメール書くのに時間がかかった。
The best way to get in touch with people abroad is through e-mail.
→外国にいる人と連絡を取るのは電子メールが一番いいよね。
The e-mail I got from her is garbled again. I wonder what's causing that.
→彼女からのメールがまた文字化けしてる。何が原因だろう。
I'm writing to let you know that my e-mail address has changed. The new address is aaa@bbb.co.jp. Please use this address from now on. Thanks.
→メールアドレスが新しくなりましたので、お知らせします。これからはaaa@bbb.co.jpにメールお願いします。
