今日のワンポイント
水曜日《作文》【Part 2】に出てきたbulkyは、名詞bulk「かさ、容積」にyをつけた形容詞。意味は「かさばる」ですね。「名詞＋y=形容詞」の表現例をいくつか挙げておきますので、この機会に覚えておきましょう。
This room seems drafty.
→この部屋はすきま風が入るみたいだね。
Why does he wear those baggy pants?
→彼はなんでだぶだぶのズボンをはいているのかね？
That guy has a creepy air about him.
→あの人ってなんか気味悪いわよね。
I almost stepped in some doggy doo-doo.
→犬の糞を踏みそうになった。
I want to keep a cat with a thick, fluffy coat.
→毛がふさふさした猫を飼いたい。
