金曜日は「英語表現」の日。日常生活の中で頻繁に使われるさまざまな表現を覚えましょう。毎回、トピックに関連した使える英文を紹介します。今回は「天気」です。

【穴埋め】
日本語の意味なるようにカッコに適切な語を入れてください。最初の文字が与えられています。

【解説】
1.「日差し」をsunで表現。「強い」はそのままstrongが使えます。（例）The sun feels warm today.「今日は日差しが暖かい」。
2. scorcherとは「焼けつくように暑い日、猛暑日」のこと。（例）It was boiling hot yesterday.「昨日はうだるように暑かった」。
3.「雲一つない」は英語でもnot a cloudと言います。Notの前にThere'sが略されています。
4. a perfect blue sky「完璧な青空」で「抜けるような青空」を表現しています。（例）The sky has cleared up.「晴れ上がったね」。
5. a bad signの文字通りの意味は「悪い兆し」。I don't like the looks of those clouds.でも「雲行きが怪しい」が表現できます。

→あまり天気予報をあてにしたらだめだよ。

→最近の天気予報はよく当たる。

→天気予報がまた外れた。
