英文法の急所（文法116回）
知っておくべき英文法のポイント（急所）を確認しましょう。今回のポイントは、受け身を使いこなす(2)「注意したい受け身形」です。1.～4.のモノローグを赤字に注意して読んでください。
1. Don't worry about the food for the party.
That will be taken care of.
I'm hiring a caterer.
パーティーの食べ物は心配いらないから。
大丈夫よ。
仕出し屋さんに頼むから。
2. I once threw a baseball through my neighbor's window.
I was made to apologize and pay for the new window.
That was 40 years ago, and I still remember ti.
一度、ボールを投げて近所の家の窓を割ったことがあってね。
（親に）謝るように言われ、新しい窓ガラス代も弁償したんだ。
40年も前のことだけど、まだ覚えてるよ。
3. Our department will be given less money next year.

That decision is being made by the budget committee.

【解説】
1. take care ofは一つの動詞表現として、受け身にする場合は、be taken care ofとなります。caterer「仕出し屋」。
2. I was madeの後のtoに注目。My parents made me apologize and pay for the new window.が受け身にする前の文です。
3. 受け身の進行形はbeingを過去分詞の前に入れて表現。文末のthoughは「～だけどね」の意味を表します。
4. get splashed by ～で「～を跳ねかけられる」の意味。puddle「水たまり」、mud「泥」。
