日本語の意味に合わせて英訳してみましょう。

【解説】
1.「飲み会」はpartyでも表現できますが、ここではdrinking sessionという言い方をしています。messは「混乱、めちゃくちゃ」の意味。get out of hand「収拾がつかなくなる」を使って、Things almost got out of hand at our last drinking session.とも言えます。
2.「うまく行っていない」はnot get alongで表現できます。また、hate each otherやnot stand each other「お互いに我慢できない」なども使えます。「同席する」はsit down next to each other / end up side by side 「隣同士になった」でもいいでしょう。
3.「何かの拍子に」をSome minor issue set ～ off「ちょっとしたことがきっかけで」と言い換えています。set ～ offは「急に～させる」の意味。この後にget them arguingを続けて「口論になってしまった」と説明しているのです。
4.「切れそうになる」には、almost lose one's temperの他に、be so close to exploding / blowing up「爆発しそうになる」、come so close to flipping out「かっとなりかける」などの言い方があります。
5.「とんでもない」をどう表現するか。disastrous「悲惨な」と同様にugly「見苦しい、見てられない」もよく使います。I think we nipped that disaster in the bud.「とんでもないことになる前に止めさせた（つぼみを摘み取る）」も一緒に覚えておくといいでしょう。hadn'tの後にはpulled them apart in a hurryが略されています（仮定法過去完了）。
