2. exchange business cardsが「名刺を交換する」に当たる言い回し。Exchanging ～を動名詞を主語にしている点に注目。ちなみに、「名刺を持っていないんです」はI'm afraid I don't have a business card.と言います。
3. fadは「ブーム、流行」の意味。boomも使えます。There's a bit of a boom these days in Internet auctions.でも同じような意味に。「ちょっとしたブーム」ということならboomletという言い方もあります。
