次の文を英訳すると？

1. アメリカ人と付き合ってた彼女のことだけどさ。
2. やっと親を説得したらしいよ。
3. ついに国際結婚になるらしい。
4. でも、今度は彼が国外に転勤するんだって。

日本語の意味に合わせて英訳してみましょう。

より英語らしく表現する（英語に磨きをかける）とどうなるか。カッコに入る語を考えてみてください。

【解説】
1. You know her「彼女のこと知ってるでしょ」で前置きをして、the one who ～「～の人」と言葉を付け足しています。「～と付き合っている」はgo out with ～で表現できます。who's been dating / seeing ～とも言えます。
2. ここではpersuade「説得する」の代わりに、give in and consent「折れて同意する」を使って、主語をher parentsにして言い換えています。動詞部分をbroke down and gave their consentとしても同じような意味になります。
3. Here comes another ～「もう一つの～がやって来る」に注目。この場面では、Get ready for another ～ 、あるいは、Now there's going to be ～を使ってもいいでしょう。「国際結婚」には、mixed-race marriageや bicultural marriageという言い方もあります。
4. get word that ～で「～という知らせを受ける」の意味。gets（現在形）を使うと、今まさにその知らせを受けた、というニュアンスが出せます。「転勤させられる」は次のように言い換えてもいいでしょう。he's getting sent overseas to work. / he's getting sent abroad for his job.
5. The thought of ～の主語の立て方がポイント。「前途多難」をthe bumpy road ahead「この先にあるでこぼこ道」、「頭を抱える」をmake her really anxious「彼女をとても不安にさせる」で表現しているところにも注目。
