次の文を英訳すると？
1. とうとうパソコン買ったんだ。
2. 買ったはいいが、使い方がわからない。
3. マニュアルも不親切だしね。

【Step 1】
日本語の意味に合わせて英訳してみましょう。

【解説】
1. finallyとget around to ～「（やっとのことで）～する余裕ができる」を組み合わせて「とうとう～する」を表現しています。簡単にAt last, I bought myself a PC.と言ってもいいでしょう。
2. ここでのポイントはone thingとantotherの使い方です。これで「買うことと使い方がわかる(figure out)ことは別」、つまり、「買ったはいいが、使えない」と言っているのです。また、次のような言い回しも覚えておくといいでしょう。Making the purchase was easy. It's using it that's hard.（強調構文）。
3.「不親切（unkind)」をhave no idea ～「マニュアルが何を言おうとしているのかさっぱりわからない」で言い換えています。make no sense「意味をなさない」を用いて、The manual makes no sense to me.のようにも言 えますね。
4.「お手上げ状態」のニュアンスをbe about ready to ～「まさに～しようとしている」とcry uncle「参ったと言う」の組み合わせで表現しています。on the verge of ～「～寸前」を使って、I'm already on the verge of giving up.でも同じような意味になります。
5. have something so valuable sitting idle「とても価値のあるものを遊ばしておく（使わない）」のはa huge waste「とても無駄だ」と言っているのです。It's worth a lot, but just going to waste.とも言えます。
