通じる英語の話し方（音読90回）

音読しましょう。

◇ケーブルテレビを話題にする◇
We're finally getting cable TV.
They'll come to install it tomorrow.
Now we'll be able to see all kinds of shows.


【和訳】
やっとうちもケーブルテレビにするんだ。
明日、取り付けに来てもらう。
これで、いろんな番組が見られるようになる。

【解説】
finally「やっと、ついに」。cable TVに冠詞（a, the）は必要ありません。come to ～「～するようになる」、install「（装置などを）取り付ける」。all kinds of ～で「いろいろな～、あらゆる種類の～」という意味。この場合のshowは「番組」。

《例文》
1. Finally, some light at the end of the tunnel.
→やっと明かりが見えてきたよ（見通しがつく）。
2. Cable TV has tons of channels.
→ケーブルテレビにはものすごい数のチャンネルがある。
3. I've come to worry less about life's ups and downs.
→人生の浮き沈みについてあまり気にしなくなった。
4. I finally installed a car navigation system.
→やっとカーナビをつけたんだ。
5. He comes up with all kinds of pie-in-the-sky plans.
→彼は絵に描いた餅のような計画をいろいろと思いつく。

【音読アドバイス】
《ポイント：子音[k]》coffee, cold, keep, kitchen
(1) はっきりとした口調で話し始めます。
(2) come, install, tomorrowを強調。
(3) Now we'll be able toまでは少し早口で、all kinds of showsは伸ばすように言い、ゆっくりとイントネーションを下げます。
