英文法の急所（文法61回）
知っておくべき英文法のポイント（急所）を確認しましょう。今回のポイントは、使い方に注意したい前置詞 (1)です（until, by, on, in）。1.～4.のモノローグを前置詞（赤字）に注意して読んでください。
1. This is a wonderful resort, isn't it?
I just arrived here yesterday.
I'll be here until next Tuesday.
ここは素晴らしいリゾートですね。
昨日ここに着いたばかりなんです。
来週の火曜日までここにいます。
2. I'm afraid I can't go out to lunch.
I'm working on this report.
I have to finish it by 1:30.

【解説】
1. until ～「～まで（滞在が続く）」。「完了」の意味を表すbyは使えません。
2. finish it by ～「（その時）までに終える、仕上げる」。untilと混同しないように。
3. 特定の日（on Sunday night）を表す場合は前置詞onを使います。（例）on Monday morning, on Saturday afternoonなど。
4. in ～「～したら、～のうちに」。forを使うと「3日間」の意味になります。

→明け方まで起きて仕事をしていた。

6.「～したら、～以内に」はinで表します。（例）You can't tell me to finish this job in two days.「この仕事を2日で仕上げろなんて言わないでくれよ」。
7. nightにつられてatを使わないように。on Saturday nightsと複数形になっている点に注目。これで「毎週土曜日の夜は」の意味になります。
8.「振り込まれる（振り込みが完了する）」。前置詞はbyですね。（例）Your bonus should be transferred to your bank account by the 25th.「ボーナスは25日までに銀行口座に振り込まれるはずです」。
