文法41でも取り上げましたが、so ～ that …に再度焦点を当てます。次の英文を見てください。
1. This is ( ) sweet ( ) I can't eat any more of it.
とても甘くてこれ以上食べられない。
2. It was ( ) hot and humid last night ( ) I couldn't sleep well.
昨夜はとても蒸し暑くてよく眠れなかった。

イタリア料理ってすごく美味しいからローマで3キロ太っちゃったよ。
カッコに入るのはsoとthatですね。これで「とても～なので…」という意味。thatは省略できます（文法41で説明済み）。例文を見てください。

ケーキがとても美味しくて食べるのをやめられなかった。
5. My heart was pounding so hard I got lightheaded.
動悸が激しくなってめまいがした。
