英文法嫌いの人でも、not only A but also Bは覚えているのではないでしょうか。今回はその「AばかりでなくBも」を取り上げます。理屈より豊富な例文！
まず、基本文から。
1. That actor is famous not only in Japan but also in America.
あの俳優は日本ばかりでなく、アメリカでも有名である。
2. This book is not only informative but also entertaining.
この本はためにもなるし、面白い。
3. They have not only won today’s game, but also won the championship.
彼らは今日の試合に勝ち、優勝もした。
次は、さまざまなnot only ～ but also …の使い方に注目。
4. Not only is this a digital camera, but it’s also a digital video recorder.
これはデジカメでもあるし、DVRでもある。（文頭の語順に注意）
5. He’s not only a nasty drunk, but he can’t remember anything afterward either.
彼は酒癖が悪いだけではなく、後で何も覚えていないんだ。（alsoの代わりにeitherを使用）
6. The telephone wasn’t working. Not only that, but the TV was broken.
電話が使えなかった。それに、テレビも壊れてた。（alsoの省略）
7. He’s an avid soccer fan. Not only that, but he loves to play as well.
彼は熱烈なサッカーファンだよ。それに、プレーするのも大好きなんだ。（alsoの代わりにas wellを使用）
6.と7.のNot only that, but ～のパターンは会話でよく使う言い回しです。会話の例を挙げておきます。

A: Not only that, they were also holding hands.

（注：amazing「びっくりするような」、hold hands「手を取り合う」）
Not only that, they ～のようにbutを省略する場合もあります。
