Part 11：There’sで言い換える２

「There’sを使って言い換える」。今回はその２。まずは実例をチェック！

1. You can't pass here.
　追い越し禁止だよ。
⇨ There's no passing here.

2. I’ve got nothing to do with her.
　彼女とは何もないんだから。
⇨ There's nothing at all between us.

《解説》
1. There's no ～ingで「～することはできない」。Passing isn't allowed here. (受動態) とも言えます。
2. have got nothing to do with ～「～とは関係がない」。There's nothing at all between us.の意味は「二人の間には何もない」。

《解答・解説》
3. mountain：be piled high with ～「～が高く積み上がっている」⇨ There's a mountain of ～「～が山のようにある」。
4. such：There's no such thing as one drink.の意味は・・・「一杯だけ、そんなものはない」⇨「一杯だけではすまない」。
5. due：a power outageはそのまま。due to ～「～のせいで」を使っている点に注目。
