《今日のFUP：1153》 侃侃諤諤 ─ かんかんがくがく
「午後の会議で、その議題について侃侃諤諤の議論が交わされた」 ─ There was a heated discussion about that issue at the afternoon meeting.
「侃侃諤諤の議論」をa heated discussion「白熱した議論」で表現。heatedの前にveryを付け足して白熱した状況をさらに強調してもいいでしょう。discussionの代わりにdebate、aboutの代わりにonも使えます。また、次のように言い換え可能。We had a heated discussion about ～、A heated discussion was held about ～。be held「行われる、開催される」。
（例）「言い争いは止めて、折衷案の議論を始めるべきだと思う」─ I think we should stop arguing and start discussing a compromise.
・compromise「折衷案、妥協案」。
前回の復習
「面白い映画だったが、結末が画竜点睛を欠いていた」─ It was an interesting movie, but the ending lacked the finishing touches.
「最後の場面での詰めを欠いていた (画竜点睛を欠いていた：詰めが甘かった)」─ the ending lacked the finishing touches
「最後の仕上げ」─ finishing touch
「結末が物足りなかった (何かが欠けていた)」─ The ending had something missing.
「この企画は詰めが甘いね」─ This plan needs more work.
Extra Bit：「彼の作品にしては、なんか物足りなかったな」─ For one of his works it seems to be missing something.
