《今日のFUP：1119》 群雄割拠 ─ ぐんゆうかっきょ
「スマホ業界は今や群雄割拠の時代に入った」 ─ The smartphone industry has now entered an era of rival warlords.
industry「業界、産業」。enter an era of ～「～の時代 (時期) に入る」。「群雄割拠の時代」をan era of rival warlords「競い合う将軍たちの時代」と言い換えています。果たして軍配は誰の手に？それは誰にもわからない。Nobody knows who will be the winner.
（例）「食うか食われるかだ」─ This is a dog-eat-dog business.
・dog-eat-dog「食うか食われるか、情け容赦のない」。
前回の復習
「夫唱婦随。それはうちの両親には当てはまらない。だって母の方が父をうまく操縦しているから」─ The wife follows the husband’s lead. But that doesn’t apply to our parents because she’s the one at the controls.
「夫のリード (手本、指示) に妻が従う (夫唱婦随) 」─ the wife follows the husband’s lead
「～に適用する」─ apply to ～
「操縦 (運転) 席にいる人 (うまく操縦している)」─ the one (who’s) at the controls
「彼は奥さんの尻に敷かれている」─ His wife keeps him on a short rope. / He’s a henpecked husband.
Extra Bit：「夫婦だからってツーカーってわけにはいかないよ」─ We are married, but we can't understand each other perfectly.
