《今日のFUP：1115》 一触即発 ─ いっしょくそくはつ
「両国は依然として一触即発の状況にある」 ─ Those two countries are still in a touch-and-go situation.
touch-and-go「危なっかしい (触れると爆破する)」で「一触即発」の意味に。touch-and-goの代わりにdangerous「危険な」を使ってもいいでしょう。主語をThings「事態、状況」にして、Things are still touch-and-go between those two countries.とも言えます。
（例）「当たり障りのない話をしておいた」─ I made sure not to touch on sensitive topics.
・touch on sensitive topics「微妙な話題に触れる」。
前回の復習
「新入社員の中でも、眉目秀麗な彼は一際目立って見える」─ (As he is) Strikingly handsome, he stands out from all the other new employees.
「際立ってハンサムな (眉目秀麗)」─ strikingly handsome
「顔立ちのいい」─ good-looking
「彼は彫りの深いいい男だ」─ He has a handsome face with chiseled features
「目立つ」─ stand out
「社員、従業員」─ employee
「彼はとても背が高いので、人込みの中で目立つ」─ He’s such a tall guy that he stands out in the crowd.
Extra Bit：「彼、スラッとしていて、格好いい」─ He has a slender, good-looking figure.
