《今日のFUP：1105》 和魂洋才 ─ わこんようさい
「英語を勉強するのはいいが、和魂洋才の大切さを忘れないように」 ─ Studying English is fine, but you’d better not forget the importance of combining the Japanese spirit with Western learning.
had better notの語順に注意。importance「大切さ、重要性」。combine the Japanese spirit with Western learning「日本の精神に西洋の学問を組み合わせる」。これで「和魂洋才」を表現。learningはknowledge「知識」でもいいでしょう。 WesternをChineseにすると「和魂漢才」に。
(例)「改めて日本の文化や歴史に触れてみるのもいいものだと思った」─ I thought it would be a good idea to get back in touch with Japanese culture and history.
・get back in touch with ～「～に改めて触れる」。
前回の復習
「用意周到に準備をしてきた我がチームにとって彼らは相手ではない」─ They’re no match for a team that’s as well-prepared as ours.
「自分たちのようにしっかりと準備してきたチームとって」─ for a team that’s as well-prepared as ours
「～にとって彼らは競争相手にはならない」─ They’re no match for ～
「準備万端である (用意周到)」─ well-prepared
「彼は用意周到な性格だから、段取りが非常に細かい」─ He has such a meticulous personality that he makes extremely detailed plans for things.
Extra Bit：「この仕事はきちっと段取りよくやらなくては」─ This job has to be done by the numbers.
