《今日のFUP：1104》 用意周到 ─ よういしゅうとう
「用意周到に準備をしてきた我がチームにとって、彼らは相手ではない」 ─ They’re no match for a team that’s as well-prepared as ours.
説明が前後しますが・・・for a team that’s as well-prepared as ours「自分たちのようにしっかりと準備してきたチームとって」、They’re no match「彼らは競争相手にはならない」と言っているのです。well-prepared「準備万端である」、つまり、「用意周到」。
(例)「彼は用意周到な性格だから、段取りが非常に細かい」─ He has such a meticulous personality that he makes extremely detailed plans for things.
・meticulous personality「細かいことに気を配る、几帳面な性格」、extremely detailed「極端にきめ細かい」。
前回の復習
「そのチームは勝ち上がってトップに立ったが、三日天下だった」─ The team fought their way to the top, but they were out of the top slot before you knew it.
「勝ち上がってトップの座につく」─ fight one’s way to the top
「あっという間に (知らぬ間に) 首位の座から陥落した (三日天下)」─ they were out of the top slot before you knew it
「第１位、トップの座」─ top slot
「すべてあっという間の出来事だった」─ It all happened in a flash.
Extra Bit：「栄光と挫折は、まさに背中合わせだ」─ Triumph and defeat are two sides of the same coin.
