《今日のFUP：1033》 一目瞭然 ─ いちもくりょうぜん
「彼が嘘をついていたのは一目瞭然だった」 ─ It was as plain as day that he was lying.
be as plain as dayが「一目瞭然 (明白である)」に当たる言い回し。最初のasは省略可能。dayの代わりにthe nose on his faceも使えます。顔に鼻があるのは、まさに明らか (very obvious)！I can tell you’ve got the flu. It’s as plain as the nose on your face.この英文の意味は・・・「インフルエンザにかかったんだ。絶対にそうだよ」。
(例)「君の分析は見当違いだ。それは誰の目にも一目瞭然」─ Your analysis is off the mark. That’s plain to anyone.
・be off the mark「間違っている、的外れな」。

「人生一度しかないのに、このままで本当にいいのかな、と自問自答することがある」─ I sometimes ask myself if it’s really OK to go on living this way knowing that you only live once.

Extra Bit：「聞くは一時の恥。知らぬは一生の恥」─ Asking a question only embarrasses you once. Not asking can embarrass you for life.
