「彼は引っ込み思案だから、人前で話すのが苦手なんだ」─ He's the shy and withdrawn type, so he's not good at public speaking.
shy「恥ずかしがり屋の」とwithdrawn「内気な」を使って「引っ込み思案」を表現しています。He's too shy and withdrawn to be good at public speaking.とも言えます。too ～ toの使い方に注目。
（例）「彼は人見知りするタイプだからね」─ He tends to be shy with people he’s meeting for the first time.

「最近、彼は角が取れて丸くなったね」─ Lately he's smoothed out the rough edges of his character and mellowed. / Something has taken the edge off him lately. He seems to have become more mature.
「でこぼこ（ざらつき）を取り除く（角が取れる）」─ smooth out the rough edges
「柔らかくなる（丸くなる）」─ mellow
「～を和らげる、弱める」─ take the edge of ～
「成熟した、分別のある」─ mature
「最近、部長も丸くなったね」─ Our manager has mellowed out these days.
